Screen Capture Multi Monitor with Different Resolutions
Hello All,
We have been using HS here at the company for quite awhile and through several iterations and have had very little issue. Since upgrading many of our machines to Windows 8.1 we have not seen any issues with HS until now. We have several user with dual or trio screen setups with little issue save for a couple. 3 users have new laptops with resolutions that go above 1920x1080 but their external monitors will only go up to 1600x900 or even as low as 1280x1024 (possibly 1280x720). When they want to do any Capture (region, full, window, etc.) on the external monitor, the resolution becomes huge and distorted and cannot be seen during or after the capture. Is there a setting we are missing or is this a bug that just hasn't been reported?
If a picture needs to be uploaded, please let me know and I will take a couple snap shots and upload them.

Hi,
I have seen the resolution switch on Windows 8 only if I have changed the screen resolution or text size (something like "make text larger" option in screen settings) and then using HyperSnap without rebooting or logging off and on again to the system. When you do this switch in Windows 8, you see a small print warning, that the resolution and text size are changed, but not all will work correctly until you log off and back on into the system.
Could you please try this on the systems where the problem happens - best reboot them, then try screen captures without changing again the text size option. What happens then?

Thanks for the reply. The users having the issues have all restarted their computers with HS set to run at startup. One of the users has had her laptop for over 2 months now using HS6 with the issue, a second user is using HS 7, this last user has had his system for 2 weeks and is using a ProLink Dock with his X1 Carbon and HS 8 (latest version) and the issue is happening to him as well. This is one of the reasons why I was asking if this may be a bug that has never been reported because not many use systems with such a huge difference in resolution on two screens.
Like I said, if needed I can supply pictures and/or video (will use phone for this).

There could be a bug in the graphics drivers on the troubled system. There is nothing I can do in the code of my program. I regularly see this problem on my Surface 3 system with a high resolution screen, with extra monitor connected to it and desktop expanded to both monitors, but only if I change the text size/resolution and don't long off and on again. After the log-off, HyperSnap 8 works correctly again. Apparently the buggy systems don't correct the necessary internal system settings after log-off and on again. Other than checking with the manufacturer for updated graphics drivers, there is not much I can recommend...

Considering the fact that I have gotten the latest Video Card Drivers from Intel, the latest Docking Station Driver from Lenovo, and verified that the resolution settings are set to not have larger fonts, this tells me that it is either in the program due to the drastic change in resolution. We have two other users here with the same type of systems (X1 Carbon, 512 SSD Drive, Lenovo ProLink Docking station, 1 and/or 2 external monitors ((newer))) and they are not having any where near the same issue, I can only conclude that the HS software does not handle drastic resolution changes very well.
Thank you for your suggestions and I hope this post will help others. It looks like I may need to get a newer monitor for the users having the issue and testing to see if this resolves the issue.

Hm. The fact that the drivers are the latest, does not necessarily mean that they are bug free... I went again to my Surface 3 with external monitor connected. The native resolution of the main screen of Surface 3 is 2160x1440 pixels. The secondary monitor is HP Compaq LA2405wg, with native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. I switched the secondary monitor first to 1280x1024 pixels, then also to 1024x768 pixels, and tested HyperSnap 8 captures with these resolutions. All worked correctly, before any log-off or reboot after just changing monitor resolution and applying it, and also after a reboot. So I'm not sure if buying better monitors will help here. Suggest first borrowing a better monitor from another desk and testing. I wish you good luck and please do share what you discover at your end. Thank you!

Hello! I have the exact same problem with my new Surface Pro 4. Unfortunately, I cannot use HyperSnap anymore ... The suggested "solution" of log-off (or reboot) did not work. Screen 1 is the built in, at native 2736x1824. Windows is set by default to display everything enlarged 200% (otherwise, it is way too small) Screen 2, external, at native 1920x1080. Display size: 100%. I'm using Windows 10, 64bit, Intel HD Graphics 520 - Driver 11/20/2015 version 20.19.15.4326 Looking forward for a solution, Thanks, Eran WhirleyTech

Indeed, I could reproduce this too, after connecting two monitors and setting one to 200% and the other at the default 100% zoom. Not sure yet how to solve this problem, will test and see what I could improve in the code.

Oh, good. I just logged on to report this on my new Surface Book. laptop has [link=mailto:2kx3k@200%,]2kx3k@200%,[/link] second monitor is a 4K monitor at 150% (all this the default Windows setting), and I noticed the problem right away. But I was a couple of builds behind 8.10.0, so I'll grab that.

Additional info: I have 2 HP monitors at 100% resolution, and an X1 Carbon Yoga. Any attempt to take a screenshot on monitor 1 - which is extends first from my laptop display - creates a large resolution jump on my laptop display that then extends to my first monitor and blocks what I want to screenshot. I have to move my display content further over to the right to get a screenshot.

In my experience this only happens if you change the resolution of screens in Windows settings and don't reboot the computer. Simply rebooting, or even just logging off and on again fixes the problem. If it persists after a reboot, then I really don't know what could be the problem. Most probably a buggy graphics card driver or something like that.
