How to clear "Save as" list?

How can I clear out the list of previous file names/paths listed in the "File name:" pull down within the "Save as" dialog in HS7?
Thanks.

Click the "Options" button at the bottom of "File" panel (menu), then choose "Clear the recent files list from: All files" and click OK.

I tried that.  Multiple times. It doesn't appear to clear anything.
I'm using version 7.27.00 on Windows 7.
Any other ideas?

Hi Bruce,
I just tried it and it worked immediately (v7.27.00 W7 64).
If you definitely checked ALL Files (right side) and not the default (deleted files, left side), I have no idea.
Try deinstalling and installing again. Weird as it sounds, it often helps.
If you want to be really thorough, delete the branch HyperSnap / Hyperionics in the registry.
Examples can be searched and found throughout the forum threads. I can't recall the precise info right now.

Thanks for your prompt responses Thomas.
That worked - though not everywhere.  Uninstalled, deleted Hyperionics registry branch, reinstalled and then Clear Recent / All files worked for clearing the Save As pull down menu.
Didn't affect the Open pull down which shows 22 or so of the files opened (though not the last 22???).
Any ideas for clearing that?
Thanks again.
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I am not sure, I can follow you. You clear the recent history (all files) - which apparently works.

As soon as you use the open or save dialogue the standard window opens and shows all existing files in the standard directory.

And then the word pulldown gave me the hint, where to look. I always use dropdown for these arrows, so I connected the File menu with the word pulldown.
When you click on the down arrow in the filename field, you get a list of filenames together with their respective directories. This appears to be a feature of Windows, not of HyperSnap, as it works with Word, too.

OK, I FOUND it. Windows keeps a MRU list for files opened or saved. This is outside HyperSnap and works with all applications. To get rid of this list, you'll have to tweak the registry. Please google for MRU list file dialogue or similar.
But be aware, that a deactivation of the MRU affects EVERY file open and save dialogue.

That's right, Thomas, thank you for figuring out what Bruce means. We can only manage the recent list on the File menu, the rest (on File/Save As and File/Open) are managed by Windows system. It is like a folder full of "links" to recently opened files and folders in all the apps. One can clear it easily, e.g. use File/Open menu in HyperSnap 7, click the "Recent Places" button in the left margin. Then click inside the big list in the middle, select all (e.g. press Ctrl+A), then press Delete button and confirm. That's all there is, now there is no "recent" files in any program. They are moved to recycle bin, so to get rid of them completely you would need to empty recycle bin too.
