Region capture causes black screen

Running HyperSnap 7.14.0.1.  When I do a Ctrl-Shift-R, to capture a region of the screen, the cross-hairs and guidelines appear, but the entire screen goes completely black.  Fortunately, the desktop reappears when I hit Esc.  Usual stuff - uninstall/reinstall, cold boot, etc.  but the problem persists.  I have dropped back to 7.13.0.5, and karma has been restored.
Environment:  Win 7 Pro, SP1.
Help, please!
Thanx

Please provide this additional data:
Exact HyperSnap version in use (from Help/About menu): 7.14.0.1______
Windows version in use: 7

    Hi,

I have same problem with one of our user.
At start it works fine but after multible captures (maybe after 500 screenshots) screen goes black when trying to capture.

The issue Tom reports above is releated to Internet security software, please read more at:

The blank screen after 500 shots may be a different issue, e.g. the program running out of memory, if you accumulate all the shots inside HyperSnap window and never close the sub-windows (tabs) with the shots. If you use something like auto-saving all shots, or auto-copying them and then pasting to another program, you don't need this accumulation. You can change this with "Capture Settings" (under "Capture" menu in HyperSnap 6) - "View & Edit" tab - select "Replace image in the current window..." option.

I had the same issue and found it was being caused by the Trusteer Rapport product http://www.trusteer.com/) which I had installed to protect from phishing - the rapport product has a function to prevent screen capture - it says for protected web sites - I guess if any site in the list is open in any browser window or tab it was stopping capture - go to the rapport console and then on page 2 choose "edit policy" and set block screen capture to never.  Help text says :
"Rapport blocks screen capture attempts while the browser presents a protected website. Programs on your computer that try to capture the screen get a black image. Malware might try to capture the screen when sensitive information (such as personal information) is presented."
