editing a pasted item, can't do??

hs7
screen capture an image
screen capture image-b
open image-a, COPY it
open image-b, PASTE image-a at bottom

while IN image-b, i try to edit some area of the pasted item, to do a CUT.  It does not let me;  it selects the WHOLE pasted area.
even if I toggle the draw/edit button

now, if I SAVE image-b with the paste, THEN re-open it, it works.

what am I missing??

thanks
Nick

I must investigate it some more, but try to "imprint" the pasted image. Make sure it's selected, with square handles around, then click "Imprint" button on the "Edit" tab of the ribbon.

    I'm having the same issue.

I take several screenshots, cut and paste elements of one onto the other. I can draw on the pasted elements but I can no longer use the text tool. When I try to make the text box, it instead drags the pasted element.

    Using Hypersnap version 7.13.04,  Windows 7 SP1 64-bit

    Thanks!

Again, if you don't need to move or otherwise tweak the pasted elements, select them and click the "Imprint" button on the Edit tab of the ribbon to make it permanent part of the image.

    Greg,
I found IMPRINT in the TOOLS bar, and that did work.
BUT, IMPRINT is not in the EDIT menu (the text version, which is what I mostly use)
can you add it to that menu also?  (I don't know if any other EDIT items are missing from that menu....)

Thanks, that will work for me some of the time.

Is that a feature that will be restored (text on pasted elements), or has is been changed to this way permanently?

    Thanks again.

I have to think of it some more and experiment, maybe I can come up with a better solution for the next version. Thank you!

    prplvda,
a workaround is to PASTE the second image (not imprint)
THEN, on the ORIGINAL part of the image (OUTSIDE the just-pasted image), create a text box, type in it; this changes focus from the PASTED part; THEN drag the text box onto the pasted part. You now have a separate text box, on top of the pasted movable image;;; just be careful that if you move the PASTED image to then move the text part; but that way, you can still have editable text

I had the same problem. It took me some time until I discovered this message to use the Imprint workaround.
I would prefer to have the "Nur Anzeigen Modus (German)" as in Version 6 to get out of the paste mode.

    Hi Anton,
Actually HyperSnap 7 has a "View and shape selection" mode, which corresponds to "view only" model in HyperSnap 6 plus additionally allows you to select, move and delete shapes. I'm not sure what is the exact difficulty in this case, so if you would like to send me a detailed explanaition, including all the steps you execute and what are the problems with them, I would appreciate this and use it as a guide for future program changes.

About not being able to start adding text over previously drawn objects or other images pasted on the current image: I fixed this now in my code, the change will be present in the next release of HyperSnap - version 7.14 or any number higher than that.
