ALERT: Webroot security software blocks captures from HyperSnap 8

Similar to some other security programs, they make the screen blank whenever a screen capture is attempted, in order to "protect" you from identity theft malware that might be present on your system. On Jan. 27, 2015 they have made some internal changes that will let HyperSnap 8 to make screen captures correctly, but - according to the Webroot tech support, the following user action is still needed:
  • Open Webroot software
  • Click on the little cog icon beside the "Identity Protection" option
  • Click on the "Application Protection" option
  • In that list, look for a file name that ends with "\HprSnap8.exe", and set it to "allow"

A reasonable precaution, although none of the 5 security apps I use do it !
The whitelisting of the desired app is the simplest solution unless that app gets compromised...
