PDF to @Voice

  • Link @Voice to Dropbox
  • In Dropbox, create a folder called ReadAttach
  • Create an account in IFTTT.com
  • Create a new IFTTT rule
  • If email
  • New email labeled
  • readattach
  • Then dropbox
  • Add file from URL
  • AttachmentUrl
  • Dropbox folder path: ReadAttach
  • Create an account at WappWolf.com
  • Create a new WappWolf action
  •  
    • Link to Dropbox
    • Select ReadAttach folder
    • Select PDF to TXT
    • Add Action
    • Save it in Dropbox
    • Apps/@Voice Aloud Reader
To Use
  • Address an e-mail to trigger@iftt.com
  • Change the message subject to include #readattach
  • Attach the PDF file

    Thank you, Tim! I'll look closer at WappWolf.com, curious to find out how good their PDF to text is. I found many files that don't convert correctly with any such tool I tested, extracting contents in wrong order. Wonder if WappWolf's tool is any better. Thank you for sharing!

    I tested now WappWolf.com, but the quality of PDF text extraction is very bad. It extracts text as just one continuous line, without any line breaks, paragraph sub-division, combining hyphenated words, for some more complex layouts extracts text in a wrong, illogical order, and incorrectly encodes foreign characters. I could probably do better than that with some of the still bad extractors I tested so far.
     
    Will consider doing this - if I won't get discouraged completely with many users rating my app "very bad" 1*, e.g. for hearing bad quality voice, instead of installing and buying a better TTS Engine and voices from Google Play...
