You could create sine wave stamps, in a similar way the "torn edge" "stamps" are made. Or download this stamp collection, contributed by another user:

after adding such edge effect stamps and "imprinting" them, you may add shadown (on Image tab of HyperSnap ribbon) to get the exact effect from your example. This is what I made just now:

I think my request is somewhat similar: instead of using Image menu > Stamp > Torn Edge to indicate that I am excluding part of a menu, I want the excluded part to gradually fade into white. Is there a way to do this?

Whichever you want - I used black, with the blend slider set to about 50%. The blend slider is at the bottom of all drawing tools.

Here is a simpler way to do this with the current version - set the "blend selection" slider to about 50%, then the foreground color to black, and draw black filled rectangles over the image, leaving the portion you want lighter unaffected. The only trouble is that you must be careful where the gray rectangles overlap, they will produce a darker gray.

thanks for reply.

I've experimented with taking the NOT-WANTED part of screen, and changing it to greyscale;
i tried doing color adjustment, and eiter increased or decreased the brightness, etc.
i can get the WANTED area to show, but again multiple steps involved.

a NEW suggestion -
allow SELECTION, then INVERT selection, and then can more easily change THAT part (which is now the unwanted part), to greyscale, Dimmed, etc.
Don't know how hard an INVERT SELECTION option would be, but then could still use all your other effects, as is, to change items.

Another suggestion, how to get a FLUORESCENT color as a highlight color, to make the highlited area brighter

anyway, will keep working on this

it's possible, but currently I don't have a good user interface for it in HS6. Here is what I did:

- captured an image of something
- in another HyperSnap tab I created a large completely black image, larger than the first one.
- I drew on it a shape (e.g. rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle...) in another color, e.g. magenta.
- I made magenta color the "transparent background", then copied the entire black image.
- Pasted the black image on the 1st picture, then moved the "Blend Selection" slider (at the bottom of drawing tools) to about 50%.

The effect is as you'd expect, but how to make it easier to use, let you select precisely what should remain in original intensity... Need to think on it.

i want to MASK part of an image; I am doing screen captures of a medicla records system, and I only want the IMPORTANT part to stand out.

I want to select other areas of the screen, and either FADE them to almost nothing (essentially remove color), or MASK them such as with the hiliter (but with more greys/whites available

the GREYscale works OK, but is there any button that can LIGHTEN an area of screen,more than the greyscale does, to make it almost translucent, or just a light image of itself?

sort of like powerpoint, where the TITLE OF THE MOMENT, upon intro, colors itself into view, but other titles on that slide stay greyed out until they are selected
