2 Bugs that happend after the last update

1. I have Voice + on my Tablet. The Language on my Tablet is Hebrew (RTL). This makes the program to also be RTL, even though its written in English (LTR). This is not consistent and looks weird (you can look in the image that the menu button is on the left but opens on the right and also is right aligned).

2. Before the update, on the notification bar there was the app with buttons to play or stop. Now the Notification bar text is blank (happens only on my Tablet).

Both worked good before the update.

The app is not translated to Hebrew, because so far nobody volunteered to do such translation, and the app is not profitable to justify hiring professional translators. Anyone reading this and interested in helping with translations may join our project at https://crowdin.com/project/voice-aloud-reader.

I didn't know that Android system shows an untranslated up like this on devices set to RTL language... I could search Android docs to see if there is something I could do to prevent this reflection, or I could move the menu to the left side when the system language is RTL, but can't do translation myself. What in your opinion would be the correct thing to do - try to prevent reflection, or move the menu with English texts to the left side?

I'll also investigate why the notification on a Hebrew system does not show all the buttons...

I have no problem with the app not being translated, it just that the alignment bothers me...
Just a shot in the dark - did you specify "android:layout_alignParentStart="true"" instead of "android:layout_alignParentLeft="true""?
And to be honest - translations are not that expensive. Maybe translating the app to Hebrew doesn't worth it, but Google offer professional translations that are not "that" expensive... With something like 100$ I translated my app into Chinese (traditional+simplified), French, Japanese, German, Spanish and Swedish.
If my app with 60k downloads and a small ad made it worth it, your app with 1M+ downloads surly would...
Check Store Listing in Google's developer console.

I found out the reason - one of the libraries I included recently declared supportRtl="true" in its AndroidManifest.xml. The notification was tougher to crack, once I switched the emulator layout to Hebrew, it was as you have shown on your screen capture (no controls, just the logo on right), but even worse - after switching back to English, the notification remained wrong. Had to add explicit 'android:layoutDirection="ltr"' to the layout file. Will try to release an update with this asap.

Do you have maybe an estimate of your app translation size? Mine is over 6000 words, which would affect the cost. Also, it may be that volunteers will do a better job translating an app than the "pros" - after all they actually use the app, and a Pro fill fire their translation software, import what they translated in the past plus translate the rest often without firing up the app and looking at the context... At least that was my experience in the past.

Did you find some good partner/venue to distribute your app in mainland China? Maybe also an ad source for that country that generates some revenue?

    Good to know!
Well, mine was with about 200 word, so yours would be more expensive, but you have more people downloading the app... And we use the app, not investigating it... So the translation can be not good, but people would still appreciate it.
And no about the distribution - I use AdMob and hope for the best...

No idea if AdMob even shows in mainland China, but many ads from there are for Google Play products, and Google Play itself is not available in China... AppTutti is a company that courts me to distribute in Chinese app stores, but since I don't have Simplified Chinese translation yet, I have not signed up.

Amazon app Android store somehow functions in China, but don't know how popular it is there. I have my app in Amazon app store too. For ad sources, I use AdMob, Amazon and Facebook but no "mediation". I think Facebook is also blocked in China.

Mmmmm I checked, and indeed no money from China... And unfortunately my apps are not that popular, so I haven't checked other vendors...

Hm, no idea how I got so lucky with the usage @Voice app gets, but still not enough to be profitable, with the amount of work it takes. Good luck to you with your apps and everything else you do!
