Emphasis and Strong
Is there a way, perhaps using regex, to change the rate and pitch of the voice when reading italic/emphasis and bold/strong markup? Or at least to add a short pause before the word to indicate special attention?

In theory this would be possible with SSLM commands (Speech Synthesis Markup Language, see
https://www.w3.org/TR/speech-synthesis11/
. However, few voices support the full set of SSML commands. I tested some of this in the past, but no longer remember which voices support which commands, and it could have changed since my last tests. I wrote a little bit about my tests of SSML in this post:
