portable scanner and resolution question

to all,
question, Iriscan Anywhere 3 (portable, battery)
scans at 300 dpi, and I don't know if can change from color to greyscale in battery mode.

if I SCAN at 300 dpi, color -
what settings would be used in hypersnap to change that resolution to
150 dpi, and greyscale?
I did see the greyscale option and that does chane my color images to greyscale, but not sure what settings to do to change resolution
thanks

Would need to understand if you want to make the image have resolution setting at 150 (so, e.g. if you print it or paste to MS Word or other software that is image resolution aware) it would appear 2x bigger? Or do you want actually to scale the image to be 2x smaller?

To change just the resolution value, use "Image" - "Resolution" on HyperSnap 7 ribbon. To scale image so that it's 2x smaller, use "Image" - "Scale" and set it to e.g. 50% of the original size.

    greg,
    tanks for reply.
what I wanted was to be able and scan, portably, at 150 dpi, as greyscale 150 looks good for bank statements, etc.
but in portable mode, that scanner just does 300 dpi color.
so I want its final size to be what WOULD have been, had I scanned at the 150dpi, greyscale.
so I guess it fits for the "2 x maller"; I still want to print the 8.5x11 page at 8.5 x 11, but I want its scanned image to have less detail in it, so stored image is smaller.
just please clarify if my thinking is correct on the above.
    thanks

Well, if you cannot set the scanner to work at 150 dpi, then you need to scale image to 50% of its linear size, that's all.

    Hey AOZ,
try an additional software like Vuescan. It has many options not available with the original scanner driver. VueScan is shareware, but afaik not crippled during the test period.

    thanks for replies.
    re: additional software -
I think hypersnap will do the job.
the purpose for this scanner would be for portable stuff (it can operate on batteries, store to a USB card), and it is for remote document scanning (I go to my office, personal scanning quickly, and go to my mom's , help her with finances, etc)
I just want to reduce their size and store compactly, once done.

the scanner itself comes wih good software, if you were to use it as attached to the computer.  but hypersnap itself does good enough with that.

    again, thanks
