Constant loss of file mfc100u.dll
Every time I upgrade to the latest version of Hypersnap the subject file disappears. This has happened three times. Searching the entire hard drives shows no results for this file. What can I do to prevent this? Copying the file to another location on installation before I run Hypersnap is one option. Is there a fix for this?

Update your anti-virus software. I probably has a false positive on this file and deletes it or puts into quaranteen as suspect virus. Or change your anti-virus to something better, maybe Microsoft Security Essentials - free for every legal Windows user. Greg

Microsoft Security Essentials is the only protection I am using. To my knowledge there is no way to indicate safe files in this application.

Greg, I am having the same exact problem and it appears that it surfaced after upgrading to 7.23.02. I am now testing a base install, without the patch, to see if it disappears. Mehdi

I really have no idea what and why would delete a dll from another app's directory. I do install it, and I do not remove it myself. Maybe your computers are really infected with a virus, which at some point infects mfc100u.dll, and then Security Essentials or any other anti-virus software removes it or puts inot quaranteen. Check your anti-virus or security software logs to find out. Greg

No, my antivirus does not flag this file as having an issue. Nothing in the History tab of Microsoft Security Essentials as being Quarantined items. I have now stayed on version 7.23.00 for several days without issues. I have ignored the request to update. I'll watch is for another week or so and then upgrade to see it the upgrade does something.

Bonjour, I have the same exact problem. I've doing a fresh install of 7.25.4.0 Hypersnap does not launch at startup and manually because msc100u.dll is missing. I'm using Avas Free Antivirus and nothing about quarantined items about it.

I really don't know what causes the deletion of this file on some systems. The copy of it is installed with HyperSnap 7, in the same folder where the rest of the program files. Why something would remove it, is beyond my understanding, unless it was a misguided anti-virus software... Greg

Perhaps, this is why something delete this file (system, some KB, .net framework, ...). After installing the package, the file is located in c:|windows|system32. Is it possible that the system allows only one instance of this file, shared between differents applications that use it ?

I've found the same thing. I've installed and removed and reinstalled 7.26.02. I had to replace the HDD in my HP Notebook and reinstall Windows 7 pro from scratch because the diskset created when I first bought the notebook was bad. I was using MS security and firewall when I installed Hypersnap back on my system. I am now using Zonealarm Extreme security. Nothing showed up in the security logs suggesting mfc100u.dll was removed. Searching my Windows folder, Windows 7 Pro shows microsoft has installed their own version in the windows\system32 folder. I've tried installing MS Visual C++ 2010SP1, 2008SP1 and 2005SP1 per posts on MS and other locations. Yet, everytime I restart my pc, the same message pops up. Why would mfc100u.dll be installed by the program setup? Shouldn't setup check if the file is already installed on the system before installing its own version? I've used HyperSnap for a very long time, and it's at the top of all my most-used apps. Hope you can pinpoint why this happens on some peoples' computers! Chalmers

I decided to uninstall visual c++ 2010 SP1 and hypersnap and then reinstalled visual c++ 2010 SP1 and then hypersnap 7.26.02. After several restarts and testing of hypersnap, everything appears to be working. However, I did this the other day and it appeared to work, so I'll "wait and see" if it works this time. Also, I was informed that my ZoneAlarm Extreme Security suite had a new version (2013) and have downloaded and in the process of installing it. Will see if the problem with missing "mfc100u.dll" re-presents itself.

After redoing things (uninstalling V C++ 2010 SP1, Hypersnap 7.26.02 and reinstalling both) I haven't had any problems with Hypersnap no being able to start because it couldn't find mfc100u.dll. I'm using HyperSnap on a system running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and have installed Windows 8 Pro 64bit on another partition on the same HP notebook HDD. I plan testing it over the next few weeks before making a decision whether or not to also install it on my wife's acer notebook running Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. Not going to try Windows 8.1 until M.S. irons out some of the issues.

I am a long time user of Hypersnap and I also have a problem with the msc100u.dll file being removed. It currently only happens on my system running XPSP3 32 bit and no other OS. I copied the file and put .bak extension on the original file. When it disappears, I copy the back up file back into the folder and remove the ".bak" extension so it has the original file name always keeping the backed up file in the folder. I use Microsoft Essentials Security and no other. Not sure why the file keeps being removed. Thanks, P Meyers ram5thwheel
