how to stop app reading " out loud
hi
I am using the app to l listen to ebook novels, the problem is everytime there is speech it finishes saying quote which is annoying is there anyway to remove this punctuation.
example
"yes sir." it says yes sir quote
any help would be great

You could use @Voice Settings menu - Edit speech. Create a replacement there of "Case sensitive" type. Copy the opening quote character from the original book text (as it will be different from the double-quote character you type from the keyboard) and paste it into the "Pattern" field. In the "Replace" field paste a regular double-quote character from the keyboard. Do the same (another speech replacement) for the closing double quote.
Another way to explore would be directly in the TTS engine and voice you're using - the Settings or Options menu there - if there is an option to read punctuation, turn it off.

thanks for the reply
had no luck found a work around converted it to a docx file then remove the qoute's from the text in MS word

“Gibbs, scan report,” Minobu ordered over the taccomm. “Is it a trick?”
“I don't think so, Tai-i,” the Ostscout pilot replied. “I think he just shut down.” Gibbs sounded surprised. Certainly, Minobu was. He called up an infrared scan on his screen. The enemy 'Mech glowed with waste heat.
Minobu slowed his own 'Mech and ordered the lance to halt.
“Damn your fool code to the Buddhist hells!” ‘Mech-Warrior Jerry Akuma's voice snarled across the comm frequency. “He's easy meat, Tai-i.”

I notice that it reads fine as a MS Docx files
so i am thinking its a coding issue with epub files, I can work with that as calibre ebook library can covert epub to docx files very easily,

A passage from the book is not good for testing, I must have the original file or link you use, so that I could see the exact encoding they use when this error happens. I found this link through Google search, is this the one you are reading? https://litlife.club/books/202849/read?page=2 It would be best to send me the EPUB file you are opening when this happens. Actually I downloaded the EPUB file from https://litlife.club/books/202849, but when I read some text with quotes, using Google voices or Acapela voices, they don't say 'quote' word, just read normally. So if this is the same EPUB file you were using, don't send it to me, but please tell me EXACTLY which TTS voice you were using, when it said 'quote' at the end of each quoted text. To find out which TTS voice is in use, please press the round button with up arrow near bottom-right, then press the “Change voice or language” button. Then tell me EXACTLY what it says below the "Choose a voice" header.

I see the problem now, it's something else than I thought. I will need to correct the sentence splitter in my code, but for now this should work:
Replacement type: Regular Expression (RegEx)
Pattern: ^\s*”\s*$
Replace: (empty) Remember that the double quote character in the "Pattern:" field must be copied from the origina book text, not typed from the keyboard.

Thank you, Danny! Good to hear that the speech replacement works for you. I was able to reproduce the problem in the EPUB file that you sent me (Wolves On the Border), but not in the PDF file (Space Capitan...). The EPUB file you sent me is encoded in a very peculiar way, and that causes the reading of the closing quote when it's at an end of a paragraph. I think that the work-around with the speech replacement that works for you is enough to deal with this particular file.
