Using Shift while marking a region

When I try to mark a region to capture with Shift + Arrows the cursor jumps to form a square. Is there any method to avoid this conflict?

Actually, this is how its supposed to work. If you start a Region capture, HyperSnap expects first a single mouse click to mark one corner of the region. You may also move the mouse with the arrow keys on the keyboard - the arrow keys pressed by themselves move the cursor by one pixel, and if you hold Shift key as well - by 10 pixels or something... (don't remember exactly, would have to look at the code). You may also press the Enter key instead of left mouse button to simulate mouse click.
 
After the 1st corner is entered, the program expects you to move the cursor (with mouse or keyboard again) to mark a rectangular region, and again accept it with left mouse button click or by pressing the Enter key. If you move the cursor with arrow keys, you can hold Shift to jump by 10 pixels.
 
However: if you move the mouse while holding Shift key, it is supposed to mark a _square_ region. There is no conflict if you use the arrow keys + Shift, while the mouse is still, not moving. But if it even accidentally moves while you press Shift and use arrow keys - maybe due to some vibrations of your desk - HyperSnap thinks that it got mouse move event with Shift key held down, and reacts by creating a rectangle. This is probably your problem... The best use of mouse and keyboard is to use mouse to move quickly to the approximate area where you want to finish the capture, and then use arrow keys alone for 1 pixel control, maybe while looking at the Zoomed view in the corner of the screen, to select exactly what you need.

I tried replicating your problem. I can't. I run v7.23.00, not the most current version and my version does exactly what Admin described. If I use Shift and Arrow Keys, the frame moves by 10 pixel (I think), without Shift it's 1 pixel.
If I move the mouse, the region changes to a square.
So I have no idea what is causing your behaviour. Maybe Admin has. You do NOT by accident activate this windows function where keyboard works like a mouse, do you? Or have some mouse software, that does more than the standard windows driver?

Do you have the means to replicate the behaviour on another machine? If it works on a laptop or another computer as Greg and I described, then it is definitely something caused by your computers' configuration.
Do you see the possibility of removing the mouse software?
Or simply connect another - non Logitech - mouse?
I tried to replicate your mouse behavior on two machines and it still works as intended.

Interesting, thank you for letting me know. Will try to test and see what happens.

Holding Shift key while using mouse to outline a region is supposed to mark exact square, instead of an arbitrary rectangle. This is probably interfering with holding Shift and pressing an arrow key without releasing it to generate multiple key-press events. It's a minor issue, so I don't plan to fix it.

Thank you, will consider this, particularly if more users ask for such an option.
