Ability to add keywords to stop speech

Hi,

There are many webs that contain advertisement sentences after articles. So it would be nice to have ability to add keywords to stop speech.

Thank you,

    Not sure if adding this would really help. You would edit downloaded articles to insert there this keyword to stop reading? Or create some special "speech replacement" in Settings - Edit speech with a special keyboard or symbols to stop reading there?

    I could improve web site filtering if you sent me the exact links to articles that contain that unnecessary contents after they were opened in @Voice.

    One way of doing this while you have an article opened in @Voice is to scroll to the end and double-tap the last sentence (or word), so that it highlights in yellow. This is the position where the app starts reading aloud if you press Play, and which it takes to estimate the reading progress. This way the progress of that article will be 100% (or very close to that), finished.

    I guess you would prefer to do this on the Reading List screen, to select a number of article and press "Mark as finished" command or button on the menu? I may add such feature in the future, particularly if more users ask for it.

    Yes, I meant this ability. So I can use Filters feature to appy to a specific website.

    AdminI could improve web site filtering if you sent me the exact links to articles that contain that unnecessary contents after they were opened in @Voice.

    Example.
    https://www.finnomena.com/testz/ugis-n/?ex_id=15
    The app cut the article (missing more than a half of the article) in default mode and show unwanted text to be speeched on the top and the bottom in full page text mode.

    I don't think that is a proper way to mark a article as finished.

    How about adding "Finish" button on the toolbar or the app menu and allow user to show it via "Extra buttons to show in top toolbar" menu?

    P.S. Could I show the screenshot taken from Pocket app?

    If I tap "Archive" button, it will mark the current speaking article as archived then move to speech the next article.

    Speech feature of Pocket app is nice but cannot handle many websites.

    I just find out that your app is much more flexible and able to handle almost websites I want but feel inconvenient without 2-3 features I have requested.

    Marking multiple articles as finished articles in the Reader List screen is nice but I prefer "Finish" button on the article screen because I can manage multiple articles via Pocket app then sync in your app.

    Thank you very much

    Great, thank you for this additional information, will consider adding such button or function on the menu. Not sure when it will be ready, things as usual are crazy busy here.

    I will look at the site and try improve its filtering with an online filter, that @Voice app will download automatically from my web site when needed. Hopefully will find some time today to do this.

    I updated the online filter for this web site. If you would like to try this, first open the Settings menu in @Voice app, then press “Share icons, text and reading lists”. Then you don’t have to change anything there, just go back to the main @Voice screen. This will refresh the online configuration at once, instead of waiting up to 6 hours for a scheduled refresh.

    Then share or paste a link to one of the articles on www.finnomena.com site, or open one save in the reading list, but press the “Reload or clear” button on top (circular arrows), then press Reload. Now the article should load all the text according the the new filter specs. If something is still not right, tell me exactly what should be different, as I cannot really understand Thai language...

    Thank you. It looked great.

    Could you please create an online filter for below link? I think it would be great if the app show only the first Facebook post of the link without comments.

    Thank you.

    I'm not sure if such filter should be valid for all Facebook posts, or only posts starting with www.facebook.com/Tam.eig/photos/ ? Or should the scope of such filter be even further limited somehow? It is very tricky for a site where users edit content.

    Re: Ability to add keywords to stop speech 2019/01/26 11:06:04 (permalink)
    There are 2 kinds of posts. Person or Page. I have created filters that handle speech for both of them manually and that worked perfect for now.

    *"<a role=""button"" .+</a>" ""
    *"<span class=""(fwn fcg|timestampContent)"">.+</span>" ""
    *"ref=page_internal""><span .+</span>" "ref=page_internal"">"
    *"(<span>.+</span>)?<a href="".+</a>(<span>.+</span>)?" ""
    *">(Jump to)<" "><"
    *"Press .+ to open this menu" ""

    But I still need stop speech keyword feature or listen any other unwanted posts within a FB link until I stop it manually.

    You can achieve the same effect using "content filters" in @Voice. They are not documented, but the following should give you a good start. Create Filters sub-directory under the main directory where the apps saves articles by default etc. Inside that directory create a text file with a name ending with .json, I named it facebook-tam-eig-photos.json. The content of this filter file should be as shown at the bottom of this message, adjust it according to your needs:

    Explanation:
    "extractor": "full" - means to take the full text content, like after pressing the circular arrows button on top of @Voice - Load full page text. It could be also "default" instead of "full", it would then first extract the "essential" text as @Voice normally does, then apply this filter.

    "url" line - Regex to match the page URL - I made it to match anything starting with https://www.facebook.com/Tam.eig/photos/. It could be also "file": "some path/file/RegEx" if you wanted to use this filter e.g. to files saved in specific folder or named in some special way.

    { "repeat": false, "from": "", "until": "Info and Ads", "replace": "" } - delete all "sentences" from the start of the text ("" mean start), until and including the line that contains "Info and Ads".

    { "repeat": false, "from": "Line@:.+", "until": ":END:", "replace": "" } - delete all "sentences" from the one that starts with "Line@:" until the end of article.

    facebook-tam-eig-photos.json file content:
    {
    "extractor": "full",
    "url": "https?://www\\.facebook\\.com/Tam\\.eig/photos/",
    "title": "Text edit, removing a range of sentences or paragraphs",
    "edit": [
    { "repeat": false, "from": "", "until": "Info and Ads", "replace": "" },
    { "repeat": false, "from": "Line@:.+", "until": ":END:", "replace": "" }
    ]
    }

    This is what I really want. I have created this filter to replace any other content accept the main one and it worked great. Thank you so much.

    {
    "extractor": "full",
    "url": "https?://.+\\.facebook\\.com/",
    "edit": [
    { "repeat": false, "from": "ax-navigation-menubar", "until": "_5pbx userContent", "replace": "" }
    { "repeat": false, "from": "_5pcr userContentWrapper", "until": ":END:", "replace": "" }
    ]
    }

    P.S. Do from and until tags support regular expression?

    Yes, they do support RegEx expression, you can see it in my example with "Line@:.+" - the .+ part there is RegEx for "match any character one or more times". Basically this mean to match any test that starts with "Line@:" and is of any length afterwards, as long as it has at least one character after the colon. Or to match also "Line@:" with nothing use "Line@:.*"
