HyperSnap 8 - Random behavior with SELECT

Hi,

I am using HyperSnap Version 8.16.06 (64-bit). I want to edit a screenshot by moving the text around, via SELECT. I found that sometimes SELECT allows me to Move the selected image (the behavior I want, same as previous version of HyperSnap), sometimes SELECT automatically creates a copy of the selected image and I end up moving the copy around the screen instead of the original text. And there is no way for me to delete the original text, because whenever I select the image, a clone gets created. 
 
Any suggestion on how to fix this?

    I'm not sure what exactly you mean by SELECT, but please be aware that HyperSnap works in two editing modes: object (shape editing) mode, where every line, shape, text etc. you draw on your image are separate objects, which you can click to select and then move freely around the whole image space, also delete, change colors, edit... And the draw directly on image mode, where anything you draw or type changes immediately the underlying image. You cannot move such drawn shapes or text, select them independently etc. The toggle between the two modes is the small button in the "Drawing tools" section at bottom-left corner.
     
    The default is shape editing mode which makes it easy to pick and move around the shapes, objects, texts you have added. However if you save the image to a standard image file (e.g. BMP, PNG, JPEG...) the shapes are immediately burned into the underlying image for the saved file. If you re-open such file for more editing, you can no longer pick up these shapes independently, they are just part of the image. If you want to preserve the independent shapes for future editing, save your work in "HyperSnap Drawing" format, *.dhs. Only HyperSnap can open such files, so if you need to share your work with others who don't use HyperSnap, or insert it on web pages or whatever, you still need to save as PNG (recommended) or JPEG, but as long as you expect to work on this image again, preserve the .dhs file too.

    Sorry, I didn't explain the problem well. 

    All I want is to be able to select a rectangular area and move it to another position on the screen. Move was the default behavior with previous versions of HyperSnap. But with 8.16.06, I found that the first select seems to be a move, but if I want to move it again, subsequent selects of the same area will always be a copy (regardless whether I press CTRL or not), leaving the image under the selection unmodified. Is this configuration issue?

    Here is how the area selection works:
     
    The first time you select an area (rectangular or other shape) you press in the middle and move it without holding the Ctrl key - the area where that selection was is filled with the current background color (e.g. white) and the selection is moved.
     
    AFTER such move, the selected area is an OBJECT, that is freely floating above the main image. If you click outside of the selection you moved, the selection handles disappear and it may look to you as if it was just one image. But click back on the part you moved, and you'll notice that selection handles reappear and you can move this object again, independently of the underlying image or other objects.
     
    If you want to make the selection a permanent part of the image and not to be able to click and move (or resize, or delete) it, click to make it "selected", then on the Image ribbon tab click the "Imprint" button. The objects currently selected are imprinted, burned-in, the background image and are no longer separate objects.
