    It seems that the virtual printer "Microsoft Print to PDF" driver for Windows 10 is doing this. Make any other printer the default and it works fine. I have no idea why this happens and how to fix it.

    Hi and thanks for the response,
      I set my HP printer as the default, and actually deleted the MS Print to PDF device from control panel and rebooted. Same issue when I go into page setup in Hsnap it crashes.

    Press "Print..." option in HyperSnap - what printer comes up as selected?

    Something slightly similar happened to me when printing images only. It did not affect the printing of any other file type (web page/HTML, PDF, etc). Under Printer Settings -> Page Setup -> Preview Before Printing was checked. I unchecked that selection and in doing so, prevented applications that printed images from crashing.

    While this isn't a solution per-se, it did nonetheless solve the problem of AppCrash for me. So when printing images/pictures, I set the default setting not to bring up the print preview screen, however in all other print scenarios I still have Print Preview selected (for documents, et al).

    See if this helps your situation.

    I don't follow where this setting is found. I have looked under printers in control panel and in HSnap. I dont see the option.

    I have no idea where the setting is located in your printer settings, as we all have different printers and the sub-menu could be found almost anywhere among them. However, HP sometimes refers to its preview function as "Show Viewer After Scan". So if you bring up the Properties dialog from your printer, check the tabs for this feature and deselect that option. Save this setting then restart the printer (and cancel any print jobs you may have in the print queue). Upon the next image print job, see if HS still crashes.

    Like I said this isn't really a solution, it's something to try that happened to work for me under similar circumstances.

    "Show Viewer After Scan" is a basic HP printer function/option. If you cannot find this, or the preview option, please refer to your HP user manual and/or search online for your specific model.

    I don't think this setting exists for my printer. I appreciate the help but it isn't going to solve my issue with HS. Not a big deal.

    One more thing to check would be with HP support site, to see if they have an updated printer driver for this device and Windows 10. I don't have that printer to test myself. HP web site at https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585 says that the most current driver they have for this printer is

    Version:   40.11

    TomD101 just sent you a private message at Monday, April 09, 2018 11:56 PM:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    crash
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I can't publish to the forum from my business pc.
    If my suggestion works for you, please publish my mail to you in the forum together with your answer.
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Please try installing a 32-bit version of HS - in a different folder.
    Does this solve the problem? Sometimes there are no 64-bit drivers. And even if there is.
    It is worth a try.

    Indeed, Thomas has a point here. I tried the 32-bit version of HyperSnap 8 with the "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer selected, which always crashes the 64-bit version of HyperSnap 8. In 32-bit version all worked correctly. Looks like there is the problem only with the 64-bit "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer driver.

    Please do check the 64-bit driver version on your system, and if its an older one, try to update it to the latest, see if they fixed it.

    I have deleted the Microsoft Print to PDF printer from my system. I just reinstalled and said to get a new driver. It installed and the crash is still happening in 64 bit HS. 32 bit still good.

    I know that 64-bit printer driver for Microsoft Print to PDF is buggy, uninstalling it and re-installing is not going to change this. What I proposed before was to check HP web site if they have a fix for HP Officejet Pro 6970 printer driver. I found out on their site that their latest printer driver is version Version:  40.11, released in 28 of July, 2017. You could check which version of THAT printer driver is installed on your system, and if older - update, see if they fix the issue or not...

    That is the version I have. The driver is included in the latest full install pack from HP which is what I used to install the printer.

    I can fully reproduce this on Windows 10 1709.
    'Page Setup' crashes, when the default printer is 'Microsoft print to pdf' and using HyperSnap 64bit. It works properly with 32bit.
    We as a company have to rethink using the 32bit version again. We were happy that the 64bit version works well. But this may cause our users to complain.

    Is there any chance that this issue can get resolved by the developers of HyperSnap 64bit?

    Did you contact Microsoft on this issue? Are they going to do anything?

    It seems to be a problem with 64-bit "Microsoft PDF Printer" driver. Any other printer selected, all works fine in HyperSnap 8 64-bit. I did not contact Microsoft, my past experience from trying to make such contact did not provide any results.

    Just an idea for a workaround: Could you disable the 'Page Setup' menu entry, if the default printer is 'Microsoft print to PDF', or if the user selected that printer for printing?
