This seems to work on my Windows 10, maybe on older versions would work too:
Download HyperSnap 8 installer from
http://www.hyperionics.co.?Page=hsdx/downloads.asp - save it, do not try to run it from web browser. Open Windows Command Prompt, change to the directory where you save HS8Setup.exe (or HS8Setup32.exe if your computer is 32-bit only), then type the following command:
cmd /min /C "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER && start "" HS8Setup.exe"
or on 32-bit computer:
cmd /min /C "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER && start "" HS8Setup32.exe"
When you get to the screen that starts with "Please select how to install HyperSnap" prompt, select the option "Install for the Current User only", then under "Destination Folder" click the "Browse..." button and select a folder under your user profile (something like C:\Users\[Your-user-name]).
