enlarge the canvas and save the whole image in one moving
Is there any convenient option to enlarge the canvas in order to include all shapes and than save the whole image into a file? Currently the only way I could find was the following:
Resize Canvas ->
Enlarge to contain all shapes ->
OK ->
Save.
Well, not very difficult at all, but imagine, that you need to pass this operations many times per hour. Is there any way to fulfil the whole operation with a single mouse click or keyboard hotkey?
Please provide this additional data:
Exact HyperSnap version in use (from Help/About menu): 7.15.01
Windows version in use: XP SP-2

Hello Greg!
I dare to remind of my two years old feature request and your kind promise to consider adding it "for the next release". Well, I do realize, that there are quite many feature requests and it is not possible to implement them all. However I'd quite sure, that I'm not the only user who needs this feature (although I admit, that they other are not so annoying as I'm).
Thanks in advance for (really) considering adding this feature.

Hm. When I say I'll consider it, I usually wait for a few more people to request such a feature. I cannot implement features just for one person... However, I was trying to think of some alternatives, rather than adding one more "save" function to the menu. What came to mind was: - Add a check-box to the Save As... screen, described as "Enlarge canvas to contain all shapes"?
- An option somewhere to auto-enlarge canvas as soon as you draw some shapes that extends beyond the current canvas?
Any better ideas, anyone? Would that be useful at all, for more people, not only Leopoldus? Greg

Actually this first alternative is more or less the thing, what I meant, providing, that the status of this check-box will be remembered between sessions. AdminAn option somewhere to auto-enlarge canvas as soon as you draw some shapes that extends beyond the current canvas? It is no so much an alternative to the previous variant, but it is actually a very interesting independent feature. Or at least you could add an option to assign a one-step hotkey for this operation (instead of the current two-steps chain, besides the accelerator Alt+E works only in the situation, when the current keyboard layout in English.

OK, I discovered :) that you can actually do what you want with the current version of HyperSnap 8 or HyperSnap 7. That is: you may assign Alt+E (or any other key combination) as a shortcut to "Contain shapes" function. To do this: - Click the "Customize Quick Access Toolbar" button, with by default is displayed in the title bar a the very right of the buttons there. It has a small thick black horizontal line, and under it there is a black triangle pointing down.
- When you click it, a menu appears. Select "More Commands...".
- Then click the "Customize..." button next to "Keyboard shortcuts" at the bottom.
- Select "Image" in the "Categories" box
- In "Commands" select "Contain shapes".
- Click into the "Press new shortcut key" white box and press Alt+E or whatever you want.
- Press the "Assign" key at bottom left.
- Click "Close" then "OK" button and test the new key, after drawing some shapes extending beyond the canvas.

Hello Greg!
Thank you very much, your last hint really makes my work much easier. I did not know of this possibility to assign a direct hotkey, so I used to use two-steps accelerator.
However it still does not solve my troubles as completly, as your first suggested variant could do ("Add a check-box to the Save As... screen, described as "Enlarge canvas to contain all shapes""). You see, the real headache is the so-called human factor. Sometimes I (and one can suppose, that I'm the only extra stupid person) when saving and closing the current tab (image) I forget to fulfill this necessary step to enlarge the canva manually. As a result the largest part of work is gone without any option to recover it.
Well, it does not happen very often, but losing the result of your hard work even from time to time does not obviusly make you happy, does it? But this little check-box in the Save As dialog ("Automatically enlarge canvas to contain all shapes" or someting like that) could save me.

I think I'll reserve this item of adding a check-box to Save As... window for future, if more people ask for it. For now I'm not sure if this is a great idea. For example, your canvas (background) color might be currently set to white, but what you really wanted for the given image was to expand it in say yellow. It's better to do this in advance, before actually saving an image.

An option to automatically resize after obvious commands like textbox, ballon and callout would be ideal. I can't imagine why you would use these and not what to save them.
