Capturing snaps in JPG instead of PNG

I'm sure there is an obvious way of doing this but I have not found it. Every captures I make are PNG files which are large. I find myself forced to convert the captures to a JPG format which is lighter. It's getting a bit tedious. How to I set up my captures so that the files are JPG directly?
Thanks for your help.

HyperSnap by default does not save images, you need to turn on automatic saving (also known as "Quick Save") manually. If you use "Quick Save", go again to "Capture Settings" button, click the "Quick Save" tab, then next to the file name field click the "Change" button and select JPEG file format. That should switch auto-saving from PNG to JPEG.

If you just save your images manually, press File - Save As... and select the JPEG format there, then the file name and folder you want. From now on each new capture Save function will default to JPEG.
