Region is not captured

I usually can use hypersnap successfully for 1 or 2 captures - then nothing captures and I have to revert to windows snipping tool.
I most often use ctrl, shft, r and draw a region for my capture. but after 1 or 2 successful captures - when I click to draw, nothing captures and it jumps to the hypersnap window with a blank capture.
I thought it was my mouse settings but after several adjustments and being that windows snipping tool works; I believe it is hypersnap.
I am using win 7 pro.

I don't understand the problem, what happens when the capture fails? Say you outline an area and then what - HyperSnap window comes up and you see in it - a white or black (or other color) rectangle of the size of the area that was supposed to be captured? Or something else? Which version of HyperSnap are you using?
