Android Auto

Hello,

I was hoping you could add Android Auto support. What are the chances?

Thanks, Michael

Hm, I did not care about this, as I don't have a car with Android Auto. But I guess I could test it under some emulators. Will see what I can do.

    Greg,

Just posted a review and purchased the paid version. Love the product and can't wait to see Android Auto support.

    Thank you, Michael!

I managed to download and install an emulator of Android Auto (basically the display part, showing on my computer what an Android phone would do with the display in a car). I was using @Voice in my car before, just playing from my phone over the Bluetooth speakers, and in the foreground - if I needed, Google Maps or other navigation software would work normally. This would probably work that way even now, with Android auto connected. If you have any idea what Android Auto module for @Voice should do, please share. Should it show some controls to pause/resume speech, jump to next or previous sentences, articles, chapters of ebook? Allow voice control for these functions? Anything else?

    Greg,

That is great. The issue I have now is that with Android Auto, it disconnects / highjacks the Bluetooth capability so if I plug in my phone to use Android Auto, I cannot use @Voice over Bluetooth.

As for design, I really like how they did the Google Music layout.

The main screen shows the name of what is playing (e.g. article name) with five buttons below:
    • Queue / Playlist --- Could be the list of articles in @Voice --- pops out from the left very cleanly
    • Back a song --- Previous Article
    • Play / Pause --- No change
    • Forward a song --- Next Article
    • Three dots for more options --- here you could have forward back sentence buttons. Generally when I am listening I sometimes want to jump back a few sentences say to the beginning of a paragraph.
Voice commands would be great. Here are the ones that come to mind:
    • Play @Voice - loads the Android Auto interface and starts playing the queue from where one left off
    • Next and Previous Article
    • Maybe article by name but don't think I would use much.
I am happy to help beta (alpha) test anything you come up with as I can text with a real system.

Really appreciate your taking an interest in this,
    Michael

    Hello Michael,
I have something that is of "early Alpha-tests" quality and works for me with the emulator, but don't have a real device (car with Android auto) to try it on. If you'd like to test this and pass ideas and errors, please email me directly. Thanks!

    Hi Michael,
please contact me by email for the beta-test of the Android Auto module. It will be a separate app module that will work with the new build of @Voice. I may also release the beta into Google Play, but not sure when. Also, somehow the link did not make it to your post, please send it to me by email.

    Hello,

Long time since last post here. As @voice is not actually on Android Auto, has this development been stopped or desestimated?

I created @Voice Auto module, submitted to Google Play and was rejected by Google. According to their policy, only apps that play real media files (music files like mp3, wav, ogg etc.) are permitted there. An app that reads with TTS is prohibited. Wasted a lot of time on development only.

Oh, sorry to hear that. it seemed strange to me this great App not to be available to Android Auto
Anyway, is there a way to download it outside Google Play?

No way, on Android Auto only official apps from Google Play are allowed. One work-around: use @Voice recording to sound files, then play them through Auto in any media player app.
