Hypersnap 8.02.04 (64-bit) does not recognize TWAIN Scanner

Hypersnap 8.02.04 (64-bit) does not recognize my TWAIN Scanner (Epson 1500).
(The "Acquire Images" Button is inactive.)

Hypersnap 7.29.03 and 7.29.05 do without problems, Paperport 12 does without problems, SnagIt 10 does not either.

This means that you did not install 64-bit drivers for your scanner. Check with the web site of the scanner manufacturer to see if they have the driver in 64-bit version. Or another work-around would be to install the 32-bit version of HyperSnap 8 instead of 64-bit.

Is it possible to install the 32-bit Version (in Program Files (x86)) AND the 64-bit Vesion (in Program Files) in parallel, just running only one of them at the same time?

Hello Greg,
concerning this important information for many users, could you please give a short HowTo in your blog, how different versions of HyperSnap can be used in one system.
Answering in this thread would not be convenient, as not everyone would look for this info HERE.

HS 7 and 8 parallel = ok
HS 8 32-bit and 64-bit parallel = ???
HS 7 32-bit and HS 8 64-bit parallel = ok
HS 8 German (or other languages) and HS 8 English parallel = ??? (interesting for translators)
Or other thinkable combinations

Thanks
Thomas

They are all OK, you may install ver. 7 and ver. 8 32-bit and ver. 8 64-bit on the same system. Just make sure to install the both variants of v8 to different directories, if you want to switch using them. You could also install the different language versions in different directories, or just re-run e.g. HS8Setup.exe and HS8SetupDE.exe anytime you need to switch the 64-bit English to German version etc.

I downloaded the current version of the driver for Win7 64-bit, but it seems to be a 32-bit driver, because after installation of the driver the 64-bit Version of HyperSnap still didn't find a TWAIN device.
So I installed HyperSnap 8 32-bit in parallel (different dirs), this works fine. So normally I will use HS8 64-bit, and for scanning HS8 32-bit.
Thank you Greg for your assistance!

Thank you for the update, Sebastian! If possible, please complain to the scanner manufacturer, maybe they will release a true 64-bit driver as well.
Also, in 64-bit HyperSnap 8 you could check the File - Select Source... menu, and choose at the top both WIA and TWAIN driver options, to see if either one is present. Often the older TWAIN will be available only in 32-bit version, but the newer WIA standard driver may be available in 64-bit too.

You are right, there is a 64-bit WIA driver!
But the GUI is completely different, much less options, and scanning is veeeery slow ... *snore* ...
I think I'll use HS8/32 with TWAIN for scanning.
I am afraid HP will not release a true 64-bit TWAIN driver, because the WIA 64-bit is already there.
Again thank you, Greg.
